Mother Regrets Thanking Medical Negligence Killers

The mother of a boy who was killed by the negligence of medical staff says she regrets thanking the medics in charge of her son's care.

Nicky Adcock, whose six year old son Jack Adcock died four years ago as a result of hospital negligence, has spoken out about her deep regret for thanking the doctors who were in charge of her son's care. Jack, who had Down's Syndrome, was fighting for his life as Dr Bawa-Garba ordered her colleagues to stop treating him when he stopped breathing.

Mrs Adcock said:

"My gratitude sickens me. I thanked them. Now I want to rip their heads off because the truth is they didn't do their best for him. If it hadn't been for them, he'd still be here today.

"How do you get two children mixed up when one has Down's and the other hasn't? Afterwards they tried to tell us that they had only mixed up the identities 'for a few minutes'. Was that supposed to be a comfort? Jack didn't have minutes to spare."

Earlier this week, two of the hospital staff who treated Jack in 2011 were found guilty of manslaughter by gross negligence and now face prison.
