An elderly woman has died after being mishandled by a nurse at a care home in Little Aston which left her with a broken leg.
Iris Teale, 91, died in hospital 16 days after suffering a broken leg at Aston Court Nursing Home in Little Aston following gross negligence by a care home nurse. Despite knowledge that Mrs Teale should only be moved by two people using a hoist, Santhosh Rajan, 39, proceeded to mishandle the pensioner.
During a night shift, Mr Rajan moved Mrs Teale to apply cream to her back but claims she was already injured when he entered the room and hadn't known she had sustained the fracture.
Prosecutor Robert Price said:
"That contact would have necessitated turning and movement which ought to have been carried out by two carers.
"No one saw him do it but we submit that you can be sure it was him, and sure that he is responsible."
