The super-rich Aga Khan has finally agreed a divorce settlement after a ten year legal battle as lawyers agreed on a £50 million pay out to his second wife.
The 77 year old Muslim spiritual leader ended the lengthy financial fight with 50 year old Princess Gabriele Zu Leiningen who is herself distantly related to the British Royal family.
The Aga Khan is believed by some to be a direct descendant of the Prophet Mohammed himself and reportedly receives a share of some of his adoring followers' earnings. As the spiritual leader of 12 million members of the mystical Ismaili Islamic sect, the Aga Khan will have breathed a sigh of relief when the case was finally closed last week.
The race horse loving millionaire gained his title from his grandfather in 1957 and loyal followers believe he is the 'bringer of life'. Born in Switzerland, the Aga Khan is a British Citizen spending most of his time living in France where the court case was concluded.
The Parisian Court of Appeal sealed the £50 million deal and many believe the Aga Khan may have got off lightly with some predicting the divorce could have cost him as much as £500m.
As the highly publicised divorce battle became public property, the details became painfully embarrassing for the Aga Khan and his family, with reports in the Mail Online that Princess Gabrielle, a former German pop star, hired surveillance experts to prove her husband had been having an affair.
With rumours of an affair with an air hostess and whispers he may be considering marrying for a third time, the Aga Khan's divorce mammoth divorce pay deal is a record in the French courts.
