A pedestrian has been killed after he was hit by a car being chased by police in Birmingham.
The man was struck by a Ford Mondeo in Belgrave Middleway just after 23:40 GMT on Sunday, March 26.
West Midlands Police said the car had been pursued from Short Heath Road in Erdington, after the driver failed to stop for officers.
Paramedics were called to assist but nothing could be done to save the 45-year-old victim, and he died at the scene. The Mondeo fled the scene and police are still hunting the motorist.
West Midlands Police said the chase had been started by response officers and then continued by specialist traffic police.
The chase was abandoned when the Mondeo went through a red light shortly before the pedestrian was struck, the force said.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has been informed and specialist officers are supporting the victim's family.
