An investigation has found that fur being sold on the high street and labelled as synthetic is actually real animal fur.
The investigation by Sky News used scientific tests to determine the origin of the fur, and discovered that fur from rabbits, cats, mink and raccoon dogs was being mis-sold to customers.
It was being sold in department store House of Fraser and in the fashion outlet Missguided, found inside Selfridges.
All of the items were priced £30 or under and were labelled as 'made in China.'
House of Fraser has stopped selling a pair of gloves identified as having a rabbit fur trim, and Missguided has removed a pair of high heels that had rabbit fur pompoms.
A House of Fraser spokesperson said:
"Our customers want assurances that House of Fraser is not complicit in such unnecessary suffering of animals and we take this issue very seriously and have communicated this to the brand in question.
"As a result all products have been removed from sale and returned to the brand.
"We will offer a full refund on any purchases of this item previously made. We will also be launching a full brand partners and supplier engagement to ensure that they are reminded of our no fur policy."
