Zara Tindall banned

Zara Tindall, eldest granddaughter of the Queen, and daughter of Princess Anne has been banned from driving for six months after racking up 12 points on her Drivers Licence.  

 

Tindall was caught doing 91mph on the A417 near her Cotswold home, where the speed limit is 70mph.  She was given four points on her Licence by Magistrates in Cheltenham earlier this week.  However, having already accumulated 9 points, from previous driving offences within the last 3 years, an instant ban was the only route for the equestrian star.  

 

Sources close to the 38 year old (who through her lawyers pleaded guilty to travelling in excess of 70mph) said her ban "was just one of those things".  

 

Gloucestershire Police frequently operate a speed trap on the lay-by (where it is thought the Royals daughter was caught speeding) seemingly catch hundreds of unsuspecting motorists each year.    

 

Mike Tindall, husband and former Gloucester and England Rugby Player is expected to "return the favour" and drive Zara around in her favourite car brand Land Rover, after she chauffeured him during his ban.  

 

A spokesman for Tindall's chosen car brand, Land Rover, said "While we do not condone any form of speeding, Land Rover will continue its association with Zara Tindall as an equestrian ambassador".  

 

Tindall was given a fine of £666, plus costs and a victim surcharge of £151, totalling £817.
