TV Builder Makes Bumper Property Profit

Avid viewers of the TV garden makeover show, Ground Force will remember resident builder Tommy Walsh.

Rocketing to stardom together with co-stars Alan Titchmarsh and flame haired gardener Charlie Dimmock, Tommy last appeared on our screens in 2005 when the show ended.

Almost a decade later, Tommy's making the news again for a remarkable transformation of his own which looks set to make him a tidy property profit. 

Following his renovation of a former workhouse, the builder could pocket more than £250,000 from the sale as property prices remain buoyant in the south east.

Famed for completing property and garden renovations in the time it took to record an episode of Ground Force, the Hackney builder and the hit BBC show drew audiences of 12 million.

Since the programme left our screens, the 57 year old builder has not been idle and believes the time is now right to cash in on this valuable asset which sits just a stone's throw from Stansted Airport in Great Dunmow, Essex. 

Tommy snatched the property as a repossession just before filming started in 1997 for £29,000 when it was simply a derelict shell.

Previously standing empty for over 20 years, Tommy has transformed the Victorian Workhouse building into a stunning three bedroomed period property but the whole project took him ten years to complete, ironically, due to the success of Ground Force.

Formerly uninhabitable, the building is Grade II listed and had its fair share of issues, with planning permission taking two years to come through. This well placed investment is now on the market for a whopping £299,950.
