Six bedroomed home collapses into a heap of rubble

A sleepy suburban scene came crashing down recently when a six bedroomed home collapsed in dramatic fashion, just weeks after new owners moved in.

The impressive detached residence which was valued on Zoopla at £475,000 was in the process of renovation when it was literally reduced to a pile of rubble.

Neighbours could only look on in horror as the once desirable character property in the Birmingham suburb of Kings Norton caved in.

It is believed that the residents were not present at the time of the collapse which came at around 4pm on an ordinary afternoon but builders had been working on the property the previous weekend.

In a report by the Daily Mail, the new owners reportedly purchased the property on Beak Hill Road from an elderly couple and were very lucky not to have been home at the time.

Described in previous sales particulars as being "an attractive, substantially extended six bedroomed property of much charm and character" – an investigation is now underway to establish the cause of the collapse.

As neighbours were warned to stay away from their homes overnight because of fears of subsidence, they spoke of the terrifying scenes.

One onlooker said, "It was like the world was ending….there was a huge crash and a rumble and then the cloud of dust coated everywhere".
