A 51-year-old woman has been apprehended on suspicion of modern slavery offenses following a police operation in Trafford.
Authorities responded to an address on Stamford New Road in Altrincham on Thursday, August 24, following the receipt of intelligence concerning modern slavery. The police have now implemented a 'safeguarding plan' for potential victims.
In the wake of a successful application by Trafford Council at Manchester Magistrates Court, the premises have been closed. The closure order will remain in effect for a period of three months.
Inspector Scott Wolstenholme, representing GMP's Trafford district, stated, "Based on intelligence we received as part of our Operation AVRO investigations, we have been able to investigate another property related to our ongoing efforts against modern-day slavery."
He continued, "We have made an arrest connected to this form of criminal activity, which egregiously exploits individuals' rights for someone else's gain. We recognize that this is an underreported issue and want to emphasize our determination to confront it head-on."
