Politicians branded hypocritical as WW1 commemorations begin

As commemorations for the Great War Centenary begin this year, politicians have been slammed for hypocrisy in an article by the Law Society Gazette.

The damning article supports the bravery of our armed forces as they are thrown into dangerous conflicts from which some may never return home. Making huge sacrifices for their country, our troops are applauded by the very same Government who makes cuts to its' valuable resources.

One hundred years on from the start of the Great War, reporter John Hyde speaks of politicians proudly applauding our heroes for their bravery. 

He goes on to attack the government for wearing their 'Help for Heroes' t-shirts to cover their 'brass necks' as they go on to cut services and slash benefits.

This comes as the coalition plans to strip members of the armed forces of their right to sue the Government for injuries suffered in action.  Fears for the human rights of our brave troops grow as former soldiers struggle on 'civvy street' due to coalition military cutbacks.

Recently the Defence Secretary, Philip Hammond told the commons that he is 'worried about the encroachment of judicial processes' into the operation of the armed forces.

The human rights issue has been sparked by a Supreme Court ruling last summer in the 'Snatch Land Rover' case.  The Court ruled that the families of soldiers killed in Iraq can pursue damages against the Government.

This follows shocking revelations that at least 37 troops have been killed in conflicts while travelling in a vehicle named by some soldiers as a 'mobile coffin'.
