When Shropshire holidaymaker, Tim Warner returned from a romantic break in Tunisia, he was shocked to discover he was suffering from the deadly bug Cholera.
The 47 year old architect was hit by the potentially fatal infection following a stay at the all-inclusive Sol Azur Hotel and is now involved in a legal battle with tour operator Thomas Cook.
Mr Warner claims that he fell ill while on holiday with partner Amanda Dworak and on their return visited his GP who confirmed he was suffering with the infection, usually confined to third world coountries.
The allure of the picturesque holiday brochure shots of the Sol Azur encouraged Tim to shell out £1,488 for the idyllic sounding sunshine break. However, they were welcomed on arrival by the smell of raw sewage.
"We arrived in the middle of the night and the first thing we noticed was the smell of raw sewage" says Mr Warner. "It was absolutely unbelievable".
The couple did complain to resort representatives who moved the couple to the other side of the complex half way through the holiday so that the smell would waft away with the sea and wind. By this time Mr Warner told the Daily Mail he was already ill and doubled up with pain.
Dissatisfied with Thomas Cook's response to their claims, Mr Warner has now apppointed specialist travel lawyers, Slater & Gordon to sue the holiday giants as he believes bacterial infection has left him with bouts of Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
