Plans for two huge copper towers with 270 upmarket flats on one of the last undeveloped Salford Quays plots are being considered, despite concerns that the area features too many apartments and not enough family homes.
Developers Glenbrook want to construct two copper-clad 16-storey blocks at Erie Basin, just a stone's throw from MediaCityUK.
An application for apartments, all of which will be available for rent, will go before Salford town hall chiefs this Thursday, March 16.
The plans are recommended for approval, despite some raising concerns about the sheer number of plush apartment blocks popping up around Salford Quays.
A dozen objections have been tabled, with one person claiming:
"There are too many apartment schemes being developed in Salford when there is a growing need for larger family housing."
Concerns have also been raised about the number of car parking spaces included in the plans, and about surrounding roads becoming congested.
Others have argued that the site is better suited to an office development.
If planning permission is granted, construction will begin immediately with renters moving in from the summer of 2019.
