A North London barrister was left 'close to death' in hospital after suffering a severe allergic reaction to hair dye.
Marina Williamson, 33, of Wembley Park, North London, was rushed to hospital after developing a severe rash, chest tightening and a pounding heart after applying L'Oreal Garnier Nutrisse hair dye a few days earlier. Upon her arrival at the hospital six days later, she was immediately put on oxygen due to her deteriorating condition.
Speaking of her ordeal, Marina Williamson said:
"I have done a few treatments before, but had I known these permanent dyes had these chemicals in I would have been so much more cautious.
"You don't think with an allergic reaction that it's going to get worse and worse like that.
"The following day my chest was tight and my pulse was all over my body and I knew something was going badly wrong with my heart."
Marina believes the chemical phenylendiamine, also known as PPD, may have been responsible for her extreme reaction as there have been a number of deaths connected to the chemical.
